Friends of the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library
Do you really love your library? Would you like to see the Parkersburg-Wood County Library be the best it can be? Then maybe you should look into joining the Friends of the Library. We are looking for new members who want to help us improve the local library and promote literacy in the area.
The Friends currently have two books sales a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The proceeds from the book sales provide financial support to the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library by helping to sponsor the Young Readers' Summer Program, buying new materials, furniture, and computer equipment, and supporting the WV Library Association and the Literacy Volunteers of the Mid-Ohio Valley.
For more information on the Friends of the Library please see the By-Laws (attached), check out our Friends of the Parkersburg-Wood County Library Facebook page, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact the library at 420-4587.
If you would like to become a member of the Friends, please visit the library and fill out a registration form. Annual membership dues are $2 per person and $5 for a family.
The next Friends' meeting will be a brown-bag/bring-your-own picnic Wednesday, June 24 at 6:00PM in the arboretum next to the Emerson Avenue location. The "annual" Friends meeting will be Tuesday, July 14 at 7PM. Mark your calendars for the fall book sale Thursday-Saturday, October 15-17. If you have books you would like to donate, please bring them to the library during regular hours and give them to the staff at the circulation desk. Large donations may be left at the rear loading dock.A True Friend is the greatest of all blessings, and the one which we take least thought to acquire, - wrote La Rochefoucauld
