Do you really love your library? Would you like to see the Parkersburg and Wood
County Public Library be the best it can be? Then maybe you should look into joining the
Friends of the Library. We are looking for new members who want to help us improve
the local library and promote literacy in the area.
The Friends currently have two books sales a year, one in the fall and one in
the spring. The proceeds from the book sales provide financial support to the
Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library by helping to sponsor the Young Readers’
Summer Program, buying new materials, furniture, and computer equipment, and supporting
the WV Library Association and the Literacy Volunteers of the Mid-Ohio Valley.
We are organizing a picnic at Fort Boreman Park Tuesday, July 11 at 6PM to celebrate our successful year and elect new officers. We hope that you and your family will join us.
We are asking that you RSVP to our email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday, July 7 so that we can plan accordingly. The Friends will supply hot dogs and buns, sauce and all other toppings, and drinks. We ask that you bring a covered dish to share.
We would also like to have a book exchange, so please bring a nice book (not bags or boxes of books, please!) that you enjoyed and would like to give away. We will put all the books together and let everyone choose a book to take home if they want. Any remaining books will be given to the library for our sale area that should be operational before then.
Hope to see you July 11!
